Philanthropy

AWC Antwerp is a club committed to raising funds and assisting local organizations that help women and children, specifically in improving education and quality of life.

Our philanthropic actions are focused at a global and local level.

  • Caring Hearts and Caring Hands, supporting breast cancer patients, are our signature projects.
  • At a local level, we have supported a variety of Antwerp-based organizations over the years.
  • At a global level, members of AWC Antwerp support the FAWCO Target Project, empowering women and girls to ensure a sustainable future.
Our motto is: “May we always be generous and never hasty in judgment”

Breast Cancer Support


Locally based support includes sponsorship of a bench in the Rubenshuis garden, as well as supporting the translation of the book "The Rubens Garden" into English. The club also donated goods such as blankets, diapers, baby formula, school supplies, bed linen clothing, and feminine care products to various organizations including Moeders Voor Moeders, De Kleine Vos/Sisters of the Little Ones and Cherut.

Other support includes a monetary gift that was made to the Red Star Line Museum, Bednet, Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) and Make A Wish, as well as sponsoring fetal monitoring equipment to an Antwerp hospital.

The goal of the FAWCO target programs is to improve the lives of women and girls.

The FAWCO Board, in consultation with The FAWCO Foundation Board, chooses target issues on a revolving basis through four areas of interest: Education, Environment, Health, and Human Rights.

The Target Program 2025 - 2028 will focus on Human Rights: Advancing Dignity, Equality and Freedom for Women and Girls. The next Target Project will be announced March 2026. 


Celebrating 17 years!

Making heart-shaped pillows to support breast cancer patients in six Antwerp hospitals (Universitair Ziekenhuis Antwerpen, ZAS Augustinus, ZAS Palfijn, AZ Klina, AZ Voorkempen and  AZ Rivierenland) has been the signature project of AWC Antwerp since 2008. The project was named Caring Hearts in 2012.

All the work is done by members and friends of AWC Antwerp. We use fabric that is mostly donated by current and past members. Other materials needed to complete the pillows, such as stuffing, labels and packing material, are either donated or purchased with funds raised by the club.

Thank you very much to a long-time partner of the club, Garniwat, for subsidizing the stuffing used for the pillows.
